DoCoMo DCMX Osaifu-Keitai

What is Osaifu-Keitai:

"“Osaifu-Keitai” refers to mobile phones equipped with contactless IC card, as well as its useful function/services enabled by the IC card. With this function, mobile phones can be utilized as electronic money, credit card, electronic ticket, membership card, airline ticket, and more."

From the article:

"NTT DoCoMo, Inc. will shortly start "DCMX," a credit payment service for its "Osaifu-Keitai (wallet-mobile phone)" compatible handset users. DCMX supports the company's "iD" credit service brand started in December 2005. The handset users can do credit shopping without signature, just by holding the handset over dedicated readers at stores showing the "iD" logo sticker. Like standard credit cards, this is an after payment service that requires no cash pre-charge.

The service consists of "DCMX mini" and "DCMX." DCMX mini allows credit payment of up to ¥10,000 per month, with the credit payment billed with the mobile phone service fee. This service is only for the payment using the handset and needs no fee for subscription or annual membership. The service will start on April 28, 2006."

From the press release:

Customers will be able to use their mobile phones to confirm remaining credit balances. For security,

DoCoMo Osaifu-Keitai phones can be locked remotely if misplaced or stolen. The user will merely need to call their misplaced/stolen phone from a registered phone number. Or, using the Omakase Lock™ service, which will be introduced later, the user will be able to call DoCoMo to request their phone be locked. Users can also set their phones to require a password each time before the DCMX service is used."
